Lenny's Las Vegas Website Masthead & Business Card

Consistent branding is so important today. This example highlights what we did for one client who came to us about a new venture he was starting. As a past client, Len Butcher knew we could help him by designing the masthead for his new website, Lenny's Las Vegas. Len has been a writer and editor in Las Vegas for years, and he wanted to start posting his popular Lenny's Las Vegas column on his own website.

We decided on a retro-modern look for the website, with just a hint of gambling because Len writes mostly about entertainment. Our first step was the transformation of the famous "Welcome to Las Vegas" sign to the "Welcome to Lenny's Las Vegas" sign. When we finished with that, we told him we could also do some great new business cards to match the website. Len knew the importance of a consistent brand, so he enthusiastically approved the job. Everyone would like to see their name up on a marquee in Vegas, so that is exactly what we did for Len. He was very excited by the final product, the price and the quick turnaround.

Are Business Cards Still Important?

With the emphasis currently being placed on the Internet and all things electronic, how important are business cards?

We think they are very important. Many times your business card is the first impression potential customers will have of your brand. Business cards should be more than just your name and number. Business cards are a perfect opportunity to tell more about you, your business and what you have to offer.

Here are two recent business cards we have created for two clients, NewsCactus and Joseph Del Popolo. NewsCactus is an online newsroom service for companies to distribute press releases, company announcements and much more. The front is your traditional business card information, while the back includes a short description of the company and its capabilities. Jospeph Del Popolo has a huge collection of Frank Sinatra memorabilia that he has collected over his lifetime while living in Las Vegas. With his card, we wanted to convey the feeling of classic Vegas Sinatra in a contemporary style.

Order Your Used Car From Courtesy Logo

This one is hot off the press, making its first appearance right here. It's the "Order Your Used Car From Courtesy" logo. The Courtesy dealerships are launching a new used car program and they asked us to create a logo for it. Do you have a specific used car in mind that you want? Can't find it anywhere? Maybe you don't have time to search all over town. Courtesy can help. Just give them your specifics and they will let you know when they find it.

We needed to design a logo to brand this idea that also related to the existing Courtesy brand. It needed to convey friendly, helpful service and be attention grabbing, as it would be included with lots of other information. In addition, it would be used in a variety of mediums, so it needed to be flexible and able to be adapted to other applications.

We decided to start with a street sign to convey transportation. We incorporated the Courtesy diamond symbol on it. Finally we came up with our Courtesy customer service man, eager to take down your information and find your used car. The man could appear in different poses to highlight various phases of the car locating process.

The logo flew through the approval process and received two thumbs up from each of the four decision makers. Look for it soon on TV, print and the Web at Courtesy Imports and Courtesy Auto Center.

Henness & Haight Newsletter

Keeping your name in front of your clients is very important and a company newsletter is a great way to do that. A newsletter lets your customers know what you're doing, any new products or services you offer, as well as new staff members or changes in your industry. Keep your audience in mind. What would they be interested in hearing about? Next, keep it simple, short and to the point. People are not going to read on and on about something that doesn't interest them.

It's very important to remember your "brand" when designing your newsletter. What overall branding message do you want to convey with your newsletter? Don't do a fun or humorous newsletter if you want your businesses image to be more professional.

Here is a sample of a law firm's newsletter we do for Henness & Haight called Legal Brief. We are getting ready to start our third issue and the client loves it. This newsletter has been very effective for them.

NAB Convention Flyer for Adrienne Electronics

Each April, one of my clients, Adrienne Electronics, attends the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) convention. They are a small niche electronics company and so they struggle as a small fish in the very large NAB pond. They came to Bob Burch Design to "brand" them with a high-quality professional appearance to help them stand out at the convention.

Pictured here is a flyer that we created this year to highlight their newest product. The flyer follows the "brand" look we have created previously for other booth materials, including posters and banners. This unified, branded look helps Adrienne Electronics convey to potential clients the high quality and professional products they sell.

One of the big challenges with this client is to communicate technical information in a easy to understand manner. We used a diagram with photos to convey the concept in a simple and easy to follow process, giving potential clients an understanding of how they would use the product.

Political Advertising For Two Candidates

Political season ended for us in April this year when the two campaigns we had been working on were re-elected in the primaries. Henderson Municipal Court Judge Douglas Hedger and North Las Vegas City Councilman Robert Eliason each won re-election by receiving over 50% of the votes cast in their respective races.

During the campaigns we worked on signage, brochures, invites and mailers of all kinds. You know what they are, you get several a week from all the different candidates. Well, we were responsible for some of the better looking ones. By their very nature, political advertising has very quick turnaround times. There were times when we would get a call in the morning and the client wanted the postcard to the mail house the next day. With the help of a quick turnaround at Time Printing we were able to meet those deadlines.

Publication Design for Nevada Pest Control Association

Just over a year ago we were contacted by the Nevada Pest Control Association about producing a newsletter for them. They showed us examples of what other associations were doing and where they ultimately wanted to go. They weren't sure what they could afford, but knew they would have to sell ads in the publication to pay for it. Some example they showed us were merely copied sheets of paper stapled in the corner. We knew we could do better for them.

We came back with a budget and design proposal to produce a 16-page, full-color, 8.5" x 11" magazine. They were ecstatic with the professional look and all they could get, while staying within their budget. We are now on our second year of production and have sold out the advertising space available in each issue without a lot of effort. The national advertisers recognize the quality and value they are getting by appearing in the Nevada Pest Control Associations quarterly magazine.

The association's board is a pleasure to work with and we couldn't ask for a better client. They are always telling us, "Whatever you guys think. You're the experts." The association plans on expanding the magazine and we continue to work on cost savings methods so they can reach their goals and we can grow together.

Direct Mail Marketing for Courtesy Mitsubishi

Sometimes nothing beats direct mail marketing for getting your message in the hands of your customers. With the right message and professional looking graphics you can cut through the clutter and drive traffic to your store, website or anywhere else you want.

Here is an example of a direct mail campaign for Courtesy Mitsubishi which we completed recently. The postcard was an additional support medium to the newspaper campaign we were running promoting the great 0% financing offer on any new Mitsubishi cars.

Our client had been using another company for years because they "specialized" in direct mail marketing. However, what that really meant was they provided generic "cookie-cutter" graphics at an exorbitant price, but it was convenient because they handled the mailing list, design and printing. We offered to give it a try and handle the whole project for them. They said yes because they trusted our company and knew we had always given them great looking materials in the past.

Previously, with their budget, they were able to reach about eight to nine thousand residents. Because of the network of great vendors we have put together, we were able to mail out fifteen thousands postcards, nearly double what they had been reaching. This is a great example of why Bob Burch Design is an exceptional choice for your next marketing project. We will stretch your marketing dollars and give you the biggest bang for your buck.

Advertising Marketing Partners Website

Today it is almost mandatory for a business to have some sort of website. Your website is often the first contact potential customers may have with your company and we all know how important first impressions are. Make sure your first impression is good one with a professional looking website.

This website I'm working on for Advertising Marketing Partners is a great example. It's fun, unique and informative without boring the viewer. It includes a great video demonstration of the product, giving your potential customer enough information to generate interest and that all important sales call.

Email Marketing for Courtesy Suzuki

Everyone has heard of it and gotten one in their inbox. What is it? Email marketing.

Now Bob Burch Design is offering Email Marketing to our clients. Just send me your client list with email addresses and I can prepare custom, personalized emails and send them to your clients. The emails can match your current advertising campaign and drive traffic to your website.

Here is an example of a letter that went out to Suzuki ATV and watersport owners offering them a loyalty discount on their purchase of a Suzuki from Courtesy Suzuki. The email drives interested people to the website for more information. Courtesy Imports knows the importance of getting its name in front of potential customers. They also know that Bob Burch Design was able to do that at a far more reasonable cost than they were getting before.

2009 Desert Birkenstock Spring Catalog

I just finished the 2009 Desert Birkenstock Spring Catalog and wanted to share it as my first post on the Bob Burch Design Blog. My goal with the catalog was to convey a fun and youthful, Spring feel. It's sixteen pages and highlights a selection of the great comfort shoes Desert Birkenstock carries. The catalog also talks about the eco-friendly nature of many of the shoes they sell. You can stop by their Las Vegas or Henderson stores or shop online at www.comfortstreetshoes.com. Mary, the owner, is a great client and a pleasure to work with. She understands the importance of having professional looking products representing her business.
